SODA SPRINGS

ON THE REAL TRAIL

Soda Springs in southeastern Idaho is famous for its naturally bubbling mineral water. Emigrants tasted it, used it to make bread rise, and wrote about it with wonder.

One spring, Steamboat Spring, made a puffing sound that reminded travelers of a steamboat engine.
